Welcome to the Digital Technologies Department at Lynfield College

We provide students from Years 9 to 13 with opportunities to explore, create and develop their skills using a wide range of digital technologies.

Our students learn through practical, hands-on activities and projects. They develop skills in areas such as programming, web development, digital design, image manipulation, spreadsheets, databases, robotics and other emerging technologies. This builds naturally on the school’s existing focus on programming, interactive websites, project planning and software selection.

Creativity is an important part of our learning. Students are encouraged to develop their own ideas, experiment with different solutions and produce digital outcomes that reflect their interests and abilities.

Learning takes place through a combination of teacher instruction, demonstrations, independent work, collaboration and teamwork. Students learn not only how to use digital tools but also how to solve problems, communicate ideas, manage projects and evaluate their own work.

Our courses have a strong practical focus. Students learn by doing. From their first experiences with Digital Technology in Year 9 through to advanced work in Years 12 and 13, students progressively develop the knowledge, confidence and skills needed for further study, employment and an increasingly digital world. Lynfield College itself describes its curriculum as providing pathways towards tertiary study, careers and further training
